Where can I go to be tested?

We are constantly working on adding new locations to offer our services.

S&G Labs Hawaii is also proud to partner with many of the wonderful practitioners in your area to collect your sample.

Do I need a doctors referral to be tested?

S&G Labs Hawaii requires a doctor’s referral for patients who have United Health Alliance (UHA) insurance.

FAQ – Getting Your Results

How long will it take to receive my results?

S&G Labs Hawaii offers a 36 to 72-hour delivery of results from the time the sample is collected

How do I get my results?

Result reports are stored in our HIPAA compliant patient portal.

To gain access to the patient portal please provide a valid email address at the time of registration.

A registration email will be sent to you from portal@labnexus.net once your sample has been received in the lab.

The registration code for your patient portal is not the same as your appointment confirmation code (PR-######).

How do I get my results


How long does it take to receive my email for my patient portal?

Please allow up to 36 hours to receive an email from portal@labnexus.net.

COVID-19 samples need to be received in our laboratory before the patient is enrolled in our patient portal.

What does a positive result look like?

    • Result: Detected
    • Flag: Positive

In the event of a positive result:

  1. Isolate yourself immediately
  2. Monitor your symptoms
  3. Reach out to your healthcare provider

What does a negative result look like?

    • Result: Not Detected
    • Flag: Negative

In the event of a negative result

  1. Continue to wear your mask in public places and practice good hygiene
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

What does an inconclusive result mean?

    • Result: Inconclusive
    • Flag: Inconclusive

In the event of an inconclusive result

  1. Continue to quarantine
  2. Schedule a new COVID PCR test to confirm your result

I have not received my registration code, what should I do?

Please allow up to 48 hours after collection to receive your registration email.

Our system sends your registration email from portal@labnexus.net

Be sure to check your spam, junk, and quarantined email folders!

Do I have to register for a patient portal to get my results?

Our HIPAA-compliant patient portal ensures your information is secured and your results are available as soon as possible!

We are unable to email result reports or provide results over the phone.

I’ve set up my portal and logged in but it says no record, what does that mean?

Hang tight! This means we have enrolled you in the portal but we are still working on your results.

Please allow 48-72 hours to pass from the time of collection for your results to be available.

FAQ – Billing & Payments

Do I have to pay for my COVID-19 test?

Patients without exposure risk or symptoms must pay cash to be tested

UHA patients without a providers referral must pay cash to be tested

Patients being tested for travel must pay cash to be tested

How much does a COVID-19 test cost?

The out of pocket rate for a COVID-19 PCR test is $150.00

S&G Labs Hawaii believes in supporting the local community and is offering a discount to the following:

  • Kama’aina Rate
    • Price of test: $135.00
  • College Student Rate:
    • Price of test: $100.00

Will my insurance cover my COVID-19 test?

Insurance currently covers tests that meet at least one of the following guidelines: 

  • If you have confirmed contact with a COVID positive person
    • been within 6 feet of a person for a total of 15 minutes who has tested positive for COVID-19
  • If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
    • Headache, fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell, etc
  • If you have a provider’s referral for testing based on possible risk of exposure
    • Please note: UHA insured patients MUST have a provider’s referral and visit notes to be tested with S&G Labs Hawaii

Patients without exposure risk or symptoms must pay out of pocket to be tested

UHA patients without a provider’s referral and visit notes must pay out of pocket to be tested

Insurance companies will not cover COVID-19 testing if you:

  • Have no exposure to COVID-19
  • Are not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19
  • Are being tested to travel

What insurance plans will S&G Labs Hawaii take?

S&G Labs Hawaii currently takes:

Ohana Health Plan
UHA * with a providers referral
United Health Care (UHC)
Veterans Administration


*COVID-19 orders for patients with UHA (United Heath Alliance) insurance must be accompanied by a referral.

Can I use the CARES Act to cover my COVID-19 test?

The CARES Act can cover COVID-19 testing for U.S. citizens who meet BOTH criteria below:

    • No active insurance coverage
    • A social security number

*patients denied coverage by the CARES act for providing the wrong social security number or having active insurance will be billed for the full balance of the COVID-19 test without an option to apply a Kama’aina discount.

How can I pay out of pocket for my test?

Payments can be made through our online portal at the time of registration with a valid credit or debit card.

S&G Labs Hawaii values your privacy and protection.  For that reason, we do not store credit card information to be used at a later date.

COVID-19 tests may be paid for out of pocket for the following: 

  • All tests used for travel MUST pay out of pocket prior to being tested
    • Price: $150.00
    • Kama’aina discount price: $135.00 (discount code provided after submission of Hawaii state ID)
  • Patients who do not meet medical necessity MUST pay out of pocket prior to being tested
    • Price: $150.00
    • Kama’aina discount price: $135.00 (discount code provided after submission of Hawaii state ID)

S&G Labs Hawaii does not provide documentation or information other than your results report, or assistance with seeking reimbursement by your insurance provider

FAQ – Partnering with S&G Labs

Will S&G Labs Hawaii come to my facility to test my employees or patients?

Yes!  If enough employees or patients can commit to a certain testing date, S&G Labs Hawaii will come to you!
